ECDOsim QGIS/Blender Dev Kit

Welcome to the ECDOsim QGIS dev kit. This kit provides the QGIS environment that I used during ECDOsim to generate elevation and map files for Blender. I personally processed a majority of the included data. Recall that a lot of ECDOsim artifacts are already open sourced at:

Source pipeline: https://github.com/sovrynn/ecdosim

High-performance computer sim artifacts: https://github.com/sovrynn/hpc-sim

Previously, a lot of these QGIS datasets were already open-sourced as KML files (viewable in Google Earth Pro Desktop) which can easily also be loaded into QGIS.

KML files: https://github.com/sovrynn/ecdo/tree/master/5-TOOLS-DEV/dev/0-completed-kmls

However, there is one major new dataset I processed which is a global geological dataset I sourced from Macrostrat. Additionally, some other datasets were included. Styles and basic QGIS instructions are also included.

Unfortunately, since QGIS uses local computer paths to locate files, you'll have to reconstruct my QGIS environment on your own computer with the datasets/styles/instructions I've included here. Some basic fiddling with QGIS will be required. Styles are included in each folder.

Thank you, and enjoy! 🌹

----------- Included Datasets ----------------------------------------------

Included datasets (and styles):

- GEBCO DEM (Digital Elevation Model)

- Newly processed geological dataset

- Previously processed KMLs

- Newly processed KMLs

Additional inclusions:

- Various additional artifacts, scripts, instructions, and notes

----------- How To Use the QGIS Dev Kit ----------------------------------------------

Included in the kit.

----------- .blend Blender Files ----------------------------------------------

The .blend Blender sim files are very large - they can be anywhere from 100s of megabytes to multiple gigabytes - so I cannot simply drop them all into this package in their original state, because that will quickly exceed the file limit. Recall that I've already open sourced a few of the main release sim files as Releases in my ECDOsim github repositories:

3D models: https://github.com/sovrynn/hpc-sim/releases

2D models: https://github.com/sovrynn/ecdosim/releases

For anyone who wants to explore their own sim configurations, with just some basic Blender knowledge, the sims at the above links will provide the boilerplate through which (via modification of the sim in Blender) any variation on an anomalous Earth rotation can be modeled.

With the open source sim artifacts and this QGIS dev kit, all tools are available and readily prepared for the end-to-end ECDOsim pipeline.
